what is jtc summer series?
5JTC Summer Series is a program run by the Jordan Theatre Company every summer giving students from 5th to 12th grade the opportunity to keep pursuing theatre outside of the school year. The JTC Summer Series aims to give as many students as possible a chance to keep honing their creative skills by encouraging them to work on both the tech and acting side of the productions. By spending only two weeks on every production, we aim to give a different type of theatre experience than most students are used to. The fast paced nature of the shows helps students strengthen skills such as line memorization, quick thinking, character development, teamwork, and musical theatre abilities. We also understand how stressful a production like this can be, so to combat that, we make sure to include prizes, activities, breaks, and as much individual help as we can to give students as smooth of a process as possible.
The JTC Summer Series camps are open to students enrolled in Katy ISD including Jordan high school and our feeder schools.

Audition information
The audition processes for these productions will be different than last year for the high schoolers. The students involved in High School Musical Jr. will audition on the first day of camp. The first half of that day will be a workshop where the students will learn auditioning tips and tricks, and the following half will be the audition itself. The materials they will be auditioning with will be provided before the audition day. The students are expected to have a good understanding of the provided materials before the first day of camp. The cast list will release that night, and we will start putting the show together the next day!
For the high school students, in person auditions will be held at the end of the school year (May 21st 3:00-7:00) for Arsenic and Old Lace and Legally Blonde.****For Legally Blonde, you only need to prepare an audition if you are wanting to be placed in a lead/supporting role, ensemble does NOT need to attend this audition, you may simply register***You will be cast the same night or following day, and for Legally Blonde, are expected to be off book on day one. The audition material for Arsenic and Old Lace is a simple roughly one minute period piece monologue. The show takes place in the 1940's, so picking a monologue from around there will not hurt. You can do either dramatic or comedic. After everyone performs their initial monologue, they will be called back into the room for a brief session of cold reads. Legally Blonde auditions will be soon after. You will perform a roughly one minute contemporary monologue, as well as a 16-32 bar section from a musical (try and match the same vibe as the show you are auditioning for). After everyone has done that part of the audition, they will come back for cold reads.
